Our conference last week was in Indiana. What more appropriate place could there be to meet than “the crossroads of America.”
It was great. Here are some of my fun memories.
- Guys from Santa Barbara who use words like “bro,” “dude,” and “gnarly.”
- Kenny from Alabama who facilitated the group I was in who said things like “Mobeel Alabama.” He also said “dadgummit” and “taykinabidnes” (taking care of business).
- Thinking that something at the buffet breakfast was oatmeal. It turned out to be gravy (for the biscuits). The dude across the table laughed at me for that.
- In 3 on 3 basketball tournament I swished a 3-pointer, though that was my only score in our losing 5-minute game.
- After winning some defaults we played a game in the flag football tournament. I made big gains and a touchdown (which was called back on a false start) rushing on two carries, but those were our only running plays. Otherwise it was all incomplete passes.
- Nic and I were roommates. All the other guys were with dudes from other places.
- We got a talk from Greg Harbaugh, an astronaut.
