I volunteered to help deliver the Web training at work. The co-ordinator is cool with it, but I need an additional approval. So this week I will find out whether, from time to time, I will be teaching people about the Web, a gifty tidal wave.
More seriously I hope to understand the company’s web strategy and make contact with people in other divisions, so perhaps I can positively influence the web ops at home div.

After I took the photo of mauby for my mauby post I found some descriptions of taking photos of beer and of pumpkins, well not those things specifically, but those were the examples.
In Photographing Beer — tutorial boakandbailey.com, a blog about beer, describe and show the steps they took in the taking and processing of a photo of a beer bottle and glass on a white background.

In Sweep & Float Still Life With… does a similar thing with a pumpkin (this’s from where the beer guys learned it).

Before reading those things I took this photo because the pedia needed a photo of mauby and, of course, mauby is great.

I took it on my Kodak EasyShare DX3900 camera and used a teaspoon to reflect and diffuse some the flash, so the photo would be neither dim nor harsh.

I have had this camera for more than five years, ever since I won it in a “cross-Canada motorcar race.” It was introduced more than six years ago. It is a great camera, but it is starting to malfunction, which means I should look for a replacement.
My preference would be to be able to get a tough little versatile pocket point and shoot and also get a prosumer digital SLR, but my capital budget can’t handle it.
Anyway, I am going to start looking for a pocket camera first, then we’ll see. A problem I am going to have is finding the features I want. I want my camera to have a quick response time, which my DX3900 does have, but most current cameras I have encountered do not.
