The last time Waterloo Warrior football had a 3-0 record was in 1998. No, actually that is the penultimate time; the real last time is now, 2007. Warriors are ranked 10 in the country this week.
Now the unbeaten Warriors face unbeaten Laurier in the Battle of Waterloo. Laurier is ranked 5.
THis is some of what the Rec had to say about the impending clash.
It’s shaping up to be a great battle
Two of Canada’s best squads to square off in Battle of Waterloo

When the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks stand toe to toe with their city football rivals on Saturday, the game against the University of Waterloo Warriors will almost certainly be history in the making — modern history, at least.[...]
“I can’t really remember a single time,” shrugged Bingeman, the longtime Warriors assistant coach and former offensive lineman who estimates he’s endured a couple dozen Battles of Waterloo.
Other years have provided fans with unforgettable playoff matchups, like Waterloo’s 32-21 win over Laurier in the all-Waterloo Yates Cup game of 1999.
Lately, though, the game has lost some of its lustre because the Warriors have not been serious playoff contenders.
I looked up the team’s record over the years. The information was easiest to find at an unofficial site: Bob Adams CIS Sports Page. I think some play-off matches from the nineties are missing.
I compiled the data over 12 previous seasons — all that was available — and made them into sparklines.

Edward Tufte originated the idea of sparklines which are word sized data graphics. These ones that show that essentially show binary information (well, trinary with the tie against Mac in 2001 — that square doesn’t look good, I should change it).
Looking at the lines by each season you can see how the season went. Up rectangles are wins and down are losses. Rectangles past the vertical lines are post season games.
I think it’s an interesting way to present information and I wanted to try it out. I also want Warriors to beat the Hawks on Saturday.
