Making fresh and smooth; vegetables you drink

20:28 Wed 14 November 2007; 317 | by Ryan | in uncategorized

Last week I was working with Melba as she made IP arrangements and she turned on the television. There was a “health show” on. It was an episode of Oprah where they have what seems like celebrity doctors giving infomercial style advice to Oprah viewers.

They did a diet and lifestyle makeover of this fiftysomething couple and changed their body age from super old to not so young. “You are actually now younger than your chronological age.” They also tested members of the audience for bone density and warned them to get enough vitamin D.

In general the advice seemed good for those people, but it did seem a bit sensational. One thing I did like was the “green juice” they made.

Instead of juicing things to get the lquid, they just blenderized whole vegetables. So instead of just drinking the liquid parts of the ingredients you get the whole vegetable, prechewed, with the fibre and everything, oh and some added water.

When the big-O tasted it she said, “It tastes like fresh.”

I wanted to taste fresh too. So I decided to make some fresh vegetable smoothie.

I took these photos of me making my version. The batteries were dead on both my cameras so I used my new handheld.

The day after I got back from the West and hours before I went to work, we went to Maestro for coffee. That is the place where they serve Canadian coffee among many other types.

In October someone commented asking where it was. So, here are some cafefront photos. It is at Maestro 24 King Street East in Kitchener.

Back in August I told people at work about Maestro and several of them are regulars now. I don’t normally drink coffee, so I have only been there a few times.
