After planning on going and not making it for a whole term, Dave and I checked out Castle on King.
At our fall end of term dinner last November, which was at the Holiday Inn on Fairway, we were at the hotel bar beforehand and tried Grand River’s seasonal pumpkin ale.The bartender recommended the castle for beer selection. After trying to schedule over five months, Dave finished exams on Wednesday and we headed downtown.

The building is white and has small “towers” built up at the corners with battlements in them. The sign out front read “Ale’s what cures ya.”
The front room has the blue and white of the Bavarian flag on the walls and is like the pub. We opted to sit back in the dining room.

They have a wide selection of beer and you can get a sampler of three for the price of a pint. We had come to sample and so we did.
Dave had:
- Erdinger Weissbrau
- Grand River Executioner’s ale
- and I forget the third one

I started with:
- Sergeant Major IPA (cask)
- Mill Street Cobblestone Stout
- Grand River Executioner’s Ale (”killer beer”)
I ordered the pork schnitzel and Dave got smothered chicken.
After dinner I got:
- La Trappe
- Dennison’s
- Corporal Punishment brown ale
Dave got:
- Dennison’s
- Mill Street Cobblestone stout
- Sergeant Major IPA

The other side of the sign says, “Yes, this is beer heaven.”
When I got back to the house I found out that Daveed and Mariano had gone to Ben Thanh’s and Hiro and Ian had gone to Wendy’s. So, we had all gone for some kind of deliciousness.
