After I had boarded the airplane she walked by me toward the back of the plane. I caught a glimpse, but I was sure it was her.
On her way back I said, “Amy.”
She smiled and said, “Hey Ryan.”
I hadn’t seen her in five years. We chatted briefly but then took our seats again.
The plane soon left the gate and we were waiting for take off. Then the captain said that we may have noticed that we were returning to the gate, because of some technical problem.
We waited and an hour after we were to have taken off, we we told that it hadn’t been solved. We would have to to switch planes. I deplaned with Amy, she borrowed my phone to call her parents and tell Simon not to come pick her up because we would be so late.
We forgot which gate to go to, but finally got there. (We had been told that it was a only a few gates over, but we had to walk more than 300 metres.)
We waited outside the gate for a while. I gave her an apple and we talked about her and Simon’s recent travels.
We replaned and took off three and a half hours later. After the several hour flight we arrived at two in the morning. My sibling was there to pick me up and we gave Amy a ride.
So, I got to sleep at about 3 a.m. to rest briefly before the run later that day.
