Sobeys going downhill

I was at the Sobeys at Columbia Street and Fischer-Hallman Road in Waterloo yesterday. It used to have high quality produce. I specifically remember back in 2002 being there and observing the high quality ginger they offered. It is no longer the case. I was very disappointed.

There was in fact no ginger. The burlap covered barrel with a ginger sign on it was empty.

Then I found this. The sign that says “Fresh Limes” makes it even worse. The limes are clearly not fresh. They are yellowing and have spots and patches of brown.

I took a quick throw and the guy put up his hands and tried to block the ball. He committed a foul and the refeee awarded us a free-kick.

Before play restarted the referee walked over and lectured to me that he thought it unsporting of me to take a quick throw when the fellow had gotten the ball for me.

I was indignant. He had not helped me at all.

I agree that is is sporting to help retrieve the ball and then for another to wait, but the referee was totally wrong about what happened.

Two weeks ago we had a similarly wrong referee, but a more heartening result.
