Last May I attended the CHL awards at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener to cover Justin Azevedo of the Rangers winning player of the year for the league. I intended to post these photos back then, but never did, so here they are now.
It was interesting to see the commotion fans and the kids out to get autographs and then the production of the awards inside the centre.
The “red carpet” was really these two scarlet mats out near the drive and really only covered about a twelfth of the walk to the entrance.
When Azevedo got there some attendent announced his arrival to big cheers from the crowd. He walked along giving autographs and posing for photos.
Near the end of the ceremony he won the award over the three other nominees, the media crowded around and he posed with the trophy for photographers.
