The Primer Ministers called this election saying that the minority parliament wasn’t working, but another Conservative minority has been elected. Clearly the only cure for a minority is a majority, but it didn’t happen so what will Harper’s recourse be now.

• Maybe Garth Turner was the problem, at least he’s gone now.
• In Kitchener-Waterloo riding Conservative Peter Braid beat five-time Liberal MP Andrew Telegdi. The margin was 73 votes, which is 0.12% of the total vote. We’ll have to see whether there is a recount and whether the result stands.
• In fact, the Conservative Party won in all four ridings in Waterloo Region.
• Now that Dion has failed to win an election, there is talk about whether he can hang on as leader. I feel it would have been better for the Liberals if they forced an election with a non-confidence vote, rather than waiting for Harper to choose.
• The Fixed Election Date Act still says there should be an election in a year and four days. If that happens we will have had four elections in five years and a few months.
